Tropical Storm Sarah
Lots of water and huge consequences
Between November 16 and 18, 2024, Tropical Storm Sara dumped 11 inches or rain on northern Honduras, swelling rivers, causing landslides, destroying roads, bridges, homes, and farms.

Now, (as of December 10, 2024) there is still an immense amount of water still standing in the communities we serve. Farmland is completely waterlogged. Families depending on planting crops or working in fields for a meager $8 per day, are stuck. There is no work. No farmable land. Drinking water infrastructure is destroyed. The community is rampant with Dengue and other illnesses. As time goes on, malnourishment and cholera become greater risks.

Rooted is committed to helping our families and communities get back on their feet. So far we have provided medical supplies and food assistance (in partnership with Feed the Hungry Honduras).
But they need your help! We are initially seeking to raise $10,000 to help families restore homes, community infrastructure, and lost businesses and farms.
